Hi! If you own an Ace Amusements Ultra system multicade, you may someday want to send the system to us for upgrading. Or, perhaps you need to return your system to us for warranty service.
Whatever the reason, the following instructions are what you will need to know to remove the system from the cabinet and send the system to Ace Amusements:
(1) Unplug the machine from the AC power source. Make certain that the AC power is off to the machine.
(2) Remove the machine's back door (if upright) or table top (if cocktail) to gain access to the system. For the back door, there are usually two, sometimes four, phillips head wood screws that secure the back door. Table tops are secured by four latches at each inside cabinet corner.
(3) Find the component that looks like this photo, it is the Ultra system.
It is one of the three components that you will remove from the cabinet, and send to us, along with -
(a) the EIDE ribbon cable and the hard disk drive (HDD), or
(b) the SATA cable and solid state drive (SSD).
(4) The system will be fastened to the cabinet or to a special shelf, and be connected by wiring cables to several other components - EIDE cable to the HDD or SATA cable to the SSD, power supply, monitor, powered speakers, trackball, spinner, etc. (see list below in #8).
(5) You will not have to remove any of the other major components from the cabinet, just disconnect all of them from the system (as described below in #8).
(6) Carefully detach each of the major component cables connected to the system. It definitely will help to draw yourself a diagram and label the cables for when it comes time to re-attach the cables.
(7) This is a photo of a typical system installed on its wooden platform shelf.
The system may be secured to the shelf with wood screws or by four easy to remove bolts with lock nuts, and may or may not rest on shock absorbing springs.
When reinstalling the system, the springs need not be reused, as they were used to cushion the HDD while in transit.
(8) Shown in the photo are several, but not all, of the typical cables that are attached to the bottom (motherboard) and top (JAMMA daughter) boards of the system.
Following is a complete list of all the possible cables that are to be detached:
a. JAMMA harness 56-pin edge connector (long light blue connector in photo) - connected to the system's top board. Be sure (very important) to re-attach it firmly, and in the same original direction (with the original side of the edge connector facing up).
Detach by gently working the connector loose from the top board. Do not pull on the wiring.
b. ATX power supply - two typically black connectors, a 24-pin (sometimes 20-pin) and a 4-pin, connected to two matching white connectors leading from the system's bottom board. The connectors are typically held together with a thumb latch.
When engaging these connectors, important that the connectors mesh smoothly and the latches snap shut firmly. If connectors are not aligned properly for a smooth engagement, do not force the connectors together as that can bend and damage the metal pins.
c. A small 6-pin connector for the kick harness (white in photo) - connected to a matching connector on system's top board. Simply pull the two apart. Some systems do not have a kick harness connector.
d. A USB trackball cable (not in photo) - typically connected to a green PS/2 port (or sometimes to a USB port) on system's bottom board (if trackball installed).
e. A USB spinner cable (not in photo) - typically connected to a USB port on system's bottom board (if spinner installed).
f. A powered stereo speaker cable (green connector in photo) - connected at the green audio port on system's bottom board (if powered speakers installed). This is a typical green audio jack to green port connection.
g. A VGA LCD monitor cable (blue connector in photo) - connected to the blue VGA port on system's bottom board. This is a typical VGA monitor connection that is held in place with two thumb screws.
h. Shutdown button leads (not in photo) - two wire leads connected or soldered to the system's top board (if shutdown button installed). If no connector to detach, but is soldered, simply cut these two wires a few inches from the solder points. We will furnish wire nuts for reconnecting the wire leads.
i. The HDD or SSD is usually mounted separately on its own shelf and attached to system by an EIDE or SATA ribbon cable.
j. There will also be an HDD or SSD power connector to detach which leads to the ATX power supply.
k. If your game machine is a 3-/4-player, detach the white ribbon cable from the top board. The cable connection is a very tight fit and will require careful, firm work to separate the ribbon cable connector from the top board. Do not pull on the ribbon cable.
Make certain that the ribbon cable, when re-installed, does not block the adjacent fan or impede the fan's airflow. If airflow is restricted, the game system will overheat and would be damaged.
(9) Use a USPS Priority Mail flat rate large mailing box. Be sure to return the three game system components - system platform, EIDE or SATA ribbon cable, and HDD or SSD.
(10) Place the system platform, cable, and drive inside the mailing box, making sure that all components are protected by bubble wrap or foam cushioning material.
(11) Close the carton and tape shut.
(12) Using USPS Priority Mail, address the carton to:
- Ace Amusements
- POB 172202
- Arlington, TX 76003
(13) When we return your components, we will package and protect them just as described above. Thus, it should arrive to you in perfect working order.
(14) We will return ship by USPS Priority Mail (2 to 3 day delivery). Be sure to provide a return address where it will be convenient for you to receive the package.
