Hi! Welcome to our Encyclopedia of Multicade Systems.
Provided below is our information regarding the subject multicade system. It is intended for general information only.
There are a bunch of multicade possibilities to choose from; consequently, selecting the right multicade can be difficult, even confusing.
But, if you are looking for an easy to maintain and operate 2-player multicade with lots of variety and action; then, the Happy Fish 302-in-1 may be just the multicade for you.
With lots of scrolling fighter action, this multicade requires a horizontally mounted 19" or 25" monitor. While a 19" cabinet will work just fine, especially when you are short on gameroom area; the 25" cabinet will provide more controller space.
In the operating manual, you will note that while there are required two 8-way joysticks with 6 buttons each, there is no kick harness required. A JAMMA harness, with all appropriate button wiring, is all that is needed.
The video signal is CGA and compatible with a CRT monitor. For use with an LCD monitor, installation of a CGA to VGA converter is required.
The audio is supplied through the JAMMA wiring harness to a monaural speaker.
Shown in this photo, a 19" monitor custom finished cabinet with two sets of player controls (two 8-way joysticks with 6 buttons each).
For a 25" monitor, the cabinet would be wider.

Happy Fish 302-in-1 Multicade System :
The 302-in-1 does not offer a freeplay option setting. So, if you intend your game for home freeplay use, we have the answer.
We can install a credit button which will allow your game to be played without having to drop quarters through the coin mechs.
In this photo of a custom finished 302-in-1 multicade, the credit button is the red button on the front of the cabinet just to the left of the coin door. Unless you request a different location, this is the default location for the credit button.
2. Operating manual.
Pictured below is the 302-in-1 operating manual with board and game DIP switch settings. You can click the image for a larger view. As you can see, the manual is only one page.
Typical board DIP settings are:
- DIP 1 = On, English.
- DIP 2 = On, select game before coin-up, rather than after coin-up.
- DIPs 3 & 4 = Off, 1 coin 1 credit.
- DIP 5 = Off, see the games setting section at bottom of the manual page,
- DIP 6 = Off, toggle between all games list, or 4-player list only.
- DIPs 7 & 8 = On or Off, not used.
3. Printed circuit board.
Pictured below is a photo (#1) of the 302-in-1 printed circuit board (pcb), and its 3 adjustable components (photos #2 and #3).
The volumn control is located top right on pcb, it is the round tan knob located at the center of photo #2. The board DIP switch bank is located top left on pcb, it is red with white switches in photo #3. The game modify switch (S-1) is the black round switch located just below the red bank of DIP switches in photo #3.

4. System navigation.
4-a. Power on cabinet.
4-b. Boot up requires perhaps 7 seconds.
4-c. Category select page is first screen to display. You have 60 seconds to select a category (a timer is displayed). The default category is the All games list category.
4-d. The categories are All, Fighting, Shotting (sp), Mission, Puzzle, and IGS. Use player-1 joystick to scroll the categories.
4-e. When the 60 seconds expire, the system will load the All category games list. During the loading, a screen with this message will appear: Loading...Don't Insert Coins Now.
4-f. The next screen to appear will be the games list for the category selected. To select a game scroll up or down, and to select a page of games scroll left or right.
4-g. The system will preview each game, beginning with the one highlighted on the games list.
4-h. To exit a game and return to the category game list, press both the player-1 and player-2 start buttons simultaneously for about 6 seconds.
4-i. I have not found a way to return to the category selection screen, except by restarting the system.
4-j. When system in category select or game list select mode, press S-1 on pcb to enter the game modify mode. Follow instructions in the manual for game modifications. Use the player-1 or player-2 buttons specified to make the modifications.
4-k. There is not a modification setting to turn off a game's sound while in attrack mode. Consequently, while the game is powered on there will always be music and sounds. For this reason, we set the volumn lower than normal.
4-l. To exit the game modification mode, press the player-1 B button to return to the category select page. Then, press S-1 on pcb to restart the 60 second timer.
