Ultra Edition 2500-in-1 Multicade System:

 

A.  Ultra Edition 2500-in-1 Features -

A-1.  The 2500-in-1 has more processing power. 

Thus, it can handle the "complex" games like Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat.  Not so with many others.

Here are some of the "complex" games offered in the 2500-in-1:

What do we mean when we say that the 2500-in-1 has more processing power?  Okay, good question.  Here is the answer:

A-2.  The 2500-in-1 is USB trackball compatible. 

Which means that you can play trackball games like Golden Tee and Centipede with a trackball.  Not just with the joystick, as with others.  Some trackball games can also be played with a spinner, or with an 8-way joystick.

This is a photo of the 3" USB trackball that we use.  It is a Suzo-Happ, which is the best on the market.  The 3" size is the same as the original equipment for Golden Tee Golf.  Sometimes, depending on the number of controls and the size of the control panel, it is necessary to use a 2-1/4" trackball.

Red, blue, and white balls are available, with white the default color.

Here are a few of the 39 games in the Trackball category:

• Capcom Bowling
• Centipede
• Crystal Castles
• Marble Madness
• Millipede
• Missile Command

Here is a really nice bonus - the trackball doubles as the crosshairs aiming device for shooting games.  There are about 25 shooters in the 2500-in-1 that work great using the trackball for aiming.  Here are a few:

• Mechanized Attack
• Steel Gunner
• Turkey Shoot
• Vs. Duck Hunt

 

A-3.  The 2500-in-1 is USB spinner compatible. 

Which means that you are able to play spinner games with a spinner.  Not just with a joystick, as with other systems.  Some spinner games can also be played with a trackball, or with an 8-way joystick. 

We will only use the best spinner on the market, the SlikStik Tornado USB spinner (see photo).  If you are a true retrogamer, you must have a spinner.  There is no better way to play one of Atari's coolest classics ever - Tempest.

Here are a few of the spinner games that I recognized in the games list:

• 720 Degrees
• Arkanoid
• Discs of Tron
• Tempest
• Tron

Here is a really nice bonus - the spinner doubles as a small steering wheel. 

In this photo, shown are the spinner knob compared to the spinner steering wheel. You could have one or the other with one spinner. Or, for both, two spinners would be required.

With a spinner, you can play such classic driving games as:

• Pole Position
• A.P.B.
• Turbo
• Road Blasters

And, there is more.  The spinner acts as a rotary joystick.  Meaning that you can play such great rotary joystick classics as:

• Ikari Warriors
• Heavy Barrel

To play the rotary joystick games, you will also need an 8-way joystick with trigger or thumb fire button.

 

A-4.  The 2500-in-1 presents proportionally correct vertical game images.

With other systems, vertical classics are stretched (wider than tall) to fill the screen of a horizontal monitor.  Not so with the 2500-in-1, the vertical classics look just like they should (taller than wide).

A-5.  The 2500-in-1 offers many of the Golden Era vertical arcade classics.

If you like the classics, then you have good reason to really like the 2500-in-1.  Because, there are many of the vertical classics included in the 2500-in-1, with only a few exceptions.

Here are a few of the Golden Era vertical arcade classic greats:

• Donkey Kong, there are 8 versions
• Frogger, there are 2 versions
• Space Invaders, there are 6 versions

 

A-6.  The 2500-in-1 offers some of the rarest Golden Era classics.

Some of the rarest and most coveted arcade classics can be found in the 2500-in-1.  These low production games have achieved cult-following status.

Here are a few that I have spotted in the games list:

• Quantum, by Atari, 1982
• Major Havoc, by Atari, 1983
• Sinistar, by Williams, 1982

 

A-7.  The 2500-in-1 offers 8 Golden Tee golf games. 

If you are a Golden Tee golf fan (and most of you are), this feature of the 2500-in-1 is simply "huge."  After all, Golden Tee did not become the most financially successful arcade video game franchise of all time without your help.

So, more than likely, these 8 Golden Tee golf games are reason enough for many of you to own this sysem.  Just think of all the money you will save.

This is a photo of a Colden Tee cabinet upgraded into a 2500-in-1.  The upgrade includes cabinet refurbishing and refinishing (new paint, new T-molding, etc.), monitor overhaul, all new controls, and a new 3" USB trackball (see section B, prices and options below).

If you happen to own a Golden Tee cabinet, I can upgrade it into a 2500-in-1 multicade.  The upgrade includes cabinet refurbishing and refinishing (new paint, new T-molding, etc.), monitor overhaul, new controls for 2-player games, and a new 3" USB trackball.

A-8.  The 2500-in-1 offers 27 versions of Street Fighter. 

On a global scale, Street Fighter has to be the most popular arcade video game franchise of all time.  There were once even international Street Fighter tournaments with teams from over the world competing for huge prizes.

A USA team member wrote a best selling book of his triumphant days on the international Street Fighter competition circuit.

Here are a few of the 2500-in-1's 27 Street Fighter offerings, enough to show the global reach of this game:

A-9.  The 2500-in-1 offers 12 classic LaserDisc games.

LaserDisc games have become one of the most collectible group of all the classic Golden Era arcade video games.  And consequently, they have become some of the hardest to find, and the most expensive to own, of classic games.

Until now, the chances were good that you had never played a classic LaserDisc game.  And even if you once had, you likely would never again have the chance to play one.

Here are all 12 of the 2500-in-1 classic LaserDisc games (we list them all here because they are a special category seperate from the main games list):

Note that some of the LaserDisc games require several seconds longer to load than most games.  Meaning that you cannot credit and start them as quickly as other games. And, that they use a different button configuration to credit and start than most games.

 

A-10.  The 2500-in-1 offers 7 of the Atari color vector classics.

The term 'color vector' refers to the type of monitor used for the game.  Unfortunately, the color vector was the worst monitor ever designed.  The monitor is terrible about overheating.  So much so, that many of these monitors would burn themselves up at the factory while being tested.

Consequently, production of these games was relatively low, and working survivors today are few.  Chances, then, are good that you have never had the chance to play one of the vector color classics.

But, with the 2500-in-1, now is your chance.  And, you should sieze the opportunity.  Because, in my opinion, the color vector classics are some of the most exciting, greatest looking games ever created.  Especially my two favorites, Star Wars and Tempest.

The beauty pictured above is a 2500-in-1 multicade custom finished in the Star Wars theme with a Star Wars marquee.  Note that this custom machine includes a USB spinner for playing another Atari color vector classic, Tempest.

A-11.  The 2500-in-1 offers the Golden Era black and white classics.

No classic arcade video game lineup would be complete without the black and whites - the ones that helped get it all started.

• Asteroids Deluxe, Atari 1980
• Space Invaders, Midway 1978 (there are 6 versions offered)

 

A-12.  The 2500-in-1 offers multi-player game play capability. 

Your game cabinet can be built with control sets for either 2-players, 3-players, or 4-players.  Plus, even if your cabinet is built for only 2-players, you can add a second cabinet for the 3-player or 4-player control sets.

A-13.  The 2500-in-1 provides a hard drive Shutdown feature.

Always shutdown the hard drive before powering off your 2500-in-1 multicade (just like you would for any computer).  Otherwise, you could damage the hard drive to the point that your multicade will no longer perform properly.

The Shutdown function is the first menu listing (in white text) for every game category.  Simply scroll to Shutdown at the top of any menu page, then depress the player-1 start button.  Most other xxxx-in-1 systems do not provide a hard drive shutdown feature.

 

A-14.  Play the 2500-in-1 just as if it were a real pinball.

One of the 2500-in-1 games is Pinball Action.  This is a screen photo of the game's video pinball playfield.  All of the fast action, sounds, and excitement of a real pinball machine are found in this game.

But, there is one thing missing - there are no pinball flipper buttons.  The game is designed to use the joystick's left and right motion to actuate the left or right pinball flipper.

So, to add the feel of playing a real pinball machine, we can add flipper buttons to each side of the multicade cabinet at the control panel.  Then, the pinball experience will be complete.

 

The game can then be played just like a real pinball machine with real side-mounted flipper buttons (one is shown in this photo).  You can then lean on the machine, just like a real pinball. 

And, you can capture and hold the pinball with the flipper, just like a real pinball.  The only thing you cannot do is shake the machine to try to save a ball from draining. 

You can add the side-mounted pinball flipper buttons for only $65.

There are two pinball games in the 2500-in-1:

• Pinball Action
• Super Pinball Action

 

A-15.  The 2500-in-1 features MP3 Jukebox.

MP3 Jukebox is included in the games list, and is an operational program. 

If you purchased your 2500-in-1 before MP3 Jukebox became operational, you may want to return your system platform for an upgrade.  See part E below for details about System Upgrades.

Since the MP3 Jukebox demands better than the original cabinet speakers, you will also want to upgrade to a powered stereo speaker system.

 

 

B.  Prices And Options -

Ace Amusements can furnish the cabinet, perform any required modifications, and custom finish the cabinet to your specifications for a 2500-in-1 Ultra Edition multicade.

Is there room for all the controls?  Sure.  Here is a photo of a Golden Tee control panel fitted with the following controls (click image for a larger view):

C.  Game Categories -

For ease of navigation, there are several game categories. Here is basic category information, and the category show or hide default setting:

• All titles (default = on).
• Classics, like Donkey Kong (default = on).
• LaserDisc, like Dragon's Lair, Space Ace (default = on).
• Fighting, like Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat (default = on).
• Trackball, like Golden Tee Golf, Centipede (default = on).
• Adult, like Gals Panic, Billiard Academy (default = off).
• 3 and 4 Player, like NBA Jam TE, Guantlet (default = on).
• Custom, various titles (default = on).

Category lists and game titles can be shown or hidden from view.  When placing your order, let me know your preference for showing or hiding the categories, otherwise the default settings shown above will apply.

We can customize the games list of the Custom and/or Classics categories for you. The fee for this service is $50 per category.

As an example, you might want the Classics category changed to include only your favorite classic video games.  Price, $50.

Then, you might want the Custom category changed to, say, only the 50 games that you will play most frequently.  Price, $50.

Total for the above two example category changes, $100.

 

D.  System Upgrades -

Whether it is the hardware or the software, we are continuously testing for ways to improve this already great multicade system.  We test new and different hard drives, memory, and processors.  We test program and configuration refinements.  We test everything. 

Our goal is to provide the fastest, smoothest, most authentic classic arcade gaming experience possible.  And occasionally, our testing will hit paydirt.  When that happens, we send notice by email to our email subscribers.  So, subscribe today if you have not already.  Just use the Subscribe box top right of any page.

To take advantage of system upgrades, you will need to return the system platform to us.  After examining your platform, we will send you a cost estimate based upon the number of upgrades available. 

 

Removal of the system platform from your cabinet is simple.  And, we are available to provide step-by-step instructions.

Returning it to us is simple, too.  Because, we have provided or can provide a strong, fully foam padded mailing box.  If you recently purchased your 2500-in-1 multicade, you will find your mailing box inside the cabinet.  Just remove the cabinet back door to retrieve the mailing box.

 

E.  System Warranty and Final Inspection -

There is nothing that can go wrong with the system platform - hardware or software - that we cannot fix.  And, we have so much confidence in this system, that we have no problem offering you this Ace Amusements exclusive  warranty:

A full five-year warranty on the 2500-in-1 multicade system platform.

The warranty covers everything - parts and labor, hardware and software.  We even cover your cost to mail the platform back to us. 

And, if it were not included inside your cabinet, we will even furnish you with a strong, fully foam padded mailing box.  Shown in the photo above is the system platform inside its mailing box.

G.  System Customization -

Our customers will be notified by email as any new customizations become available. 

 

H.  Sound Clarity and Volume -

The Ace Amusements 2500-in-1 system exclusively features the addition of a sound card (aka audio card).  The sound card eliminates all known sound issues.  Thus, for any game, all the sounds and music will be just as you remember.

However, to take full advantage of the sound card, it is suggested that you upgrade the original cabinet speakers to a powered stereo sound system.  Like having icing on the cake, there are many worthwhile results of upgrading to a powered stereo sound system:

(1)  A truly remarkable improvement in sound quality for all games.

(2)  A volume adjustment pod located conveniently near the front door.

(3)  Gets the most out of the MP3 Jukebox feature (see A-15 above).

(4)  The adjustment pod comes with a headphone jack port (meaning that you can play games all night long, as loud as you want, and not disturb anyone).
