Hi! Most arcade video games are fitted with four steel leg leveler casters at each corner on the bottom of the cabinet. The steel casters are similar to the ones used on large appliances, such as refrigerators.
The steel casters help to level the cabinet, enable sliding the cabinet, and to elevate the cabinet above any potential water damage.
Over time the standard arcade steel casters (shown front row in the photo) will wear off the end cap and/or rust.
Even though we replace all steel casters with new, the steel can damage most residential floors. So, if for example, you have wood floors, be sure to protect your floors from the steel casters.
At Ace Amusements, we offer a great solution for protecting your floors from steel casters - heavy duty poly wheels. Shown back row in the photo, these wheels provide several advantages over steel casters:
1. The wheels are of poly material that will not damage your home's floors.
2. The wheels will allow the cabinet to be easily moved around in your home.
3. When your game arrives at your home, the wheels will also allow you to more easily and more safely move the cabinet into your home. Otherwise, you will need an appliance dolly, which is hard to handle and could scratch your game's cabinet.
The charge for the 4 poly wheels mounted to the base of your game's cabinet, is only $55 (much less than the cost of repairing a damaged floor). These are non-locking wheels which can be secured into place with the use of furniture caster cups.
When you place your game order, be sure to ask for poly wheels instead of steel leg leveler casters.
